Type of a scam Employment

I applied for secret shopper jobs online. I wes sent a letter with a check. I was to deposit the check into my account, go to an apple. Store and purchase two gift cards. One in the amt. Of $1,400…and another for $1,300. The remainder of the check was my pay. I have done none of the above as I am suspicious of fraud..

Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I received an email on my university email account about becoming a secret shopper and make money that won’t interfere with current employment. I was sent an email and text where I had to confirm my mailing address. I received a check in the mail for 2,450.00 with instructions to deposit the check and buy two Apple giftcards for $1000 and $1,150 and I would keep the remaining $250. I thought this was a little strange and tried calling and researching and confirmed it was indeed a scam. I did not deposit the check because I was afraid it would bounce and I would be responsible for that. I thought the whole thing was a little weird with little contact information about the person and the company in general.

Received an email from ask markets llc for mystery shopping to sign up. They sent me a packet with a "check" and instructions for shopping at Walmart. The check was for $2650 for the purchase of money orders and gift cards. Did some research and discovered that this was not a legitimate company.

Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I was sent a link to a secret shopper opportunity by a trusted co-worker whose account was hacked. I signed up on the website, and within days, I was sent a check for $2650 and I was told to text David Swillo when the check was deposited. My assignment was to go to my local Apple Store to purchase two gift cards, one for $1000 and the other for $1400. I had a survey page to fill out and I was supposed to send a picture of my receipt along with the gift cards with the PIN scratched off to this contact person above. I thought that was very strange. This is the message with the link:

Hi,

There’s an ongoing recruitment exercise for retail survey shoppers. You get paid to shop locally, I have been on the program a little over 6 months. You’ll evaluate and comment on customer service rendered, product and services delivered.

Pay is on average $500-$700 weekly for PT/FT surveys. Follow the link below to apply. https://hdlmarketsforce.formstack.com/forms/apply
