I made a payment to Application & Renewal Services – ARS Inc, which is a company that falsely presented itself an affiliate of the System for Awards Management. They have emailed us multiple times and made several phone calls about our SAM registration expiring and that we would need to pay a renewal fee to continue using its services. However, after payment, I continued to receive emails about needing to update our SAM information. These emails were from the real SAM registration, which is actually a completely free service. I spoke to a SAM representative a moment ago who confirmed that they do not require payment for either the initial registration or any future registration renewals. I also reported the fake company information to SAM in order to prevent them from taking advantage of other SAM registrants in the future.
