Type of a scam Identity Theft

I was called by "Apple" from the f and told to call the 800 number because someone from overseas was trying to access my Apple phone information and that my device could be compromised if I didn’t respond. I called the second number and the operator who had an East Indian accent asked me I thought I had a computer. I told him that I would call my local Apple Store instead and hung up. When I called the Apple store, the specialist said it sounded like a scam. I don’t know what information the scammer was going to ask of me.
