Type of a scam Debt Collections

Robin Carson with Anderson, Johnson and Berke, Inc. called our company on August 20, 2015 to help us collect on past due accounts. He spoke with the owner of my company, who told him that I was out of the office that day. Robin called back on the 21st and started yelling at me for not knowing that he was going to call, stating that the owner of my company wanted to use him to collect past due debt and that I was to have all the information ready for him. This should have been my first clue not to use them. I would not give him the info he wanted on this first phone call because I had not spoke to the owner about this. Three to four calls a day for over a week before the owner and I spoke about this debt collection company. We are a construction company and the owner works out in the field everyday and I run the office. The owner said to give them a try. A contract was signed on September 4, 2015. We only gave them 2 accounts, partly because they said anything under $500 was a waste of their time and secondly we just wanted to see how them worked. The first account refused to pay them directly and would only send us a check for the amount this company said that we would take. The other account did pay them on September 18, 2015 but as of January 19, 2016 we still have not seen any money. The only thing I am thankful for is that I did not send them the 25% on the first account because they refused to send me a W-9 on their company.

Looking at the contract we signed, it was faxed from Manfield Harper and Associates, not even Anderson, Johnson and Berke.
