Type of a scam Family/Friend Emergency

A scammer saying his name was Alex Smith, a bail bondsman, called and said that our son had been arrested and he was trying to bail him out but needed the money to do it. Originally he said that they couldn’t take credit cards but then said that they would since we were over 65. We gave him all the credit card info then it asked for date of birth and the last 4 of our SSAN and we stop providing info. He then tried to get us to wire him the money thru Walgreen. By now my wife’s antennas were up and she froze the card we gave him, 15 minutes later we got notified that an attempted purchase at bestbuy using our card had been declined. Note, he called late on Saturday night.
