Type of a scam Tech Support

Represented themselves as an IT Technical support company for Apple. Called them with a problem with my iPad being disabled. After 3 hours on the phone with the iPad hooked into my computer, they had access to the iPad and did fix the problem. They told me I had thousands of viruses. They recommended that I buy a service contract for which I paid $549.50 for a life time contract. They wouldn’t accept a credit card — only a check, which I gave them the router number to. A week later I realized that all my pictures had disappeared so I called the number they emailed me with my service contract. The recording stated that the phone was disabled. I tried all 3 numbers with the same response. I sent an email with no response. I called Apple and they had never heard of this company and said that unfortunately I had been scammed. I called the bank and of course the check already cleared so they are looking into seeing if I can dispute the charge. Very frustrating!!!
