Type of a scam Credit Repair/Debt Relief

I was told they could help me with my student loans, give me a forgiveness program loan where they would cut my debt in half. I’d pay them and they’d pay the student loan company. I was charged a fee for this, $500, plus they took money out of my acct for “payments” of the forgiveness program. Well come to find out a year later they scammed me.

Aidnest contacted me about loan forgiveness on my student loans. I agreed to pay them 3 payments of somewhere in the neighbor hood of 145.00 to take care of the the fees and paperwork. Also they took 19.00 a month for 10 months out of my checking to pay the federal loan company and after 10 years paying them the remaining balance would be forgiven. However I was contacted by the federal student loan company telling me my payments were due and then I was past due. I contacted the loan company explained what Aidnest said they were doing and was told they never heard of them. I tried to contact Aidnest via 3 different numbers 2 were no longer in service and the 3rd one was to a lawsuit company.

Aidnest called me about consolidating my student loans. They said if I paid 175.00 today and 125.00 for 3 months and 19.00 for 20 years my loans would be taken care of. I told him I was hesitant because of the scams. He said that Nelnet got sued for wrong doing and I could even look it up on the internet to see he was telling the truth. I told him Im on Social Security and again he resured me that everything was okay. That was in May. Today I get a notification from my credit score people telling me my student loans are defaulting. All Aidnest does is takes your money to illegally fill out your paperwork every year to keep your student loans in forbarence. I will be contacting Social Security as well to let them know Aidnest is a scam and they took federal funds. I spoke with Fedloan and they have never heard of Aidnest nor have they ever worked with them

Type of a scam Advance Fee Loan

Please be aware of this scam.

They will contact you saying they are a loan forgiveness program. They will ask for pay stubs and then fake approve you for the program. I gave the last part of the email address (@aidnest.com) due to the many emails they will contact you from acting as if they are agents with the “business”. These email addresses usually have a persons first and last name before @aidnest.com and can sometimes be slightly different (first initial last name or first name last initial). They also will contact your parents to forgive the parent loan and have them paying as well. I actually got connected with them because hey contacted my dad firat I believe though email. The scary part is that they know the exact amount of your loan. I also believe they came in contact with me or my dad just as Nelnet (which is who you should actually be working with) contacted me so I got confused. The moral of this all is to pay attention and don’t be so eager to just be done with everything that has to do with college and student loans. Know who you should actually be paying and if you have no clue either go on fasfa and figure it out or get in touch with someone in that department of your college to have a better understanding. Please be careful! I lost about $1,000+ in the course of a year and a half maybe even two years. Don’t be lazy do your research on anyone that contacts you and handle your business. I hope this helped. Please learn from my mistake.

Type of a scam Advance Fee Loan

This was clearly a scam. From a voicemail, caller stated she was calling from "quality insurance" regarding "my student loan forgiveness file" (there is no such thing! I am an active student and have never applied for this). Left a voicemail urging my "immediate response" as failure to do so would "avoid my application from being held up or canceled".

I called the company back on the number provided on the voicemail. (213-429-4413) Asked immediately to be removed. The respondent immediately said, "ok I will remove you" and then hung up!!! (second red flag!).

I called back – stated, "do not hang up on me". When pushed for information on the company. I was given very few details. I was unable to get any real supervisor or company president’s name. The person on the other end, "Walter Hicks", refused to answer much. Said his company work with the US Dept. of Education (3rd red flag!!). I firmly said, "that is not true. Tell me how you came across my information." He replied, "public record."

Clearly, this is a scam!! I never applied for such a thing. No, they do not work with the US Dept of Ed. and clearly a real company would not just say, "I will remove you" and hang up with out getting any demographic information. Failure to identify company personal, failure to appropriately identify how they obtained my information, and falsified information regarding some federal student loan forgiveness. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS!!! THIS IS A SCAM!!
