Type of a scam Tech Support

Received an alert on my computer that it was being compromised and to call the number on the screen 800-210-0464. I called the number and then they said they could fix it but wanted $1,499.00 for a life time contract. Also said they could not take a credit card since the computer was compromised and could only take checking account information.
