Type of a scam Employment

Was contacted via text message about an employment opportunity. It turned out to be one of those business evaluating deals where they ask you to go into a business and purchase something and they pay you for it plus reimburse u your out of pocket purchase. But in this case they sent me an impressive check (not with the name they gave me but a totally different company name) via Fed Ex in which I am to deposit into my account, keeping $300. then go to a Western Union and transfer a specified amount to some person then proceed to Walmart and purchase Itune gift cards. The idea is to get my banking information. But I didn’t fall for it. I still have the check, have not deposited it, but wanted to inform others.
