My Story
This handsome hunk is Scrappy! This goofy boy may already be over 60#, but at just over a year old, he is still full of puppy antics! Scrappy came in as a stray at the end of February 2024. The dog wardens got a call from someone who had found a dog they believed had been abandoned at a park. Staff was never able to locate Scrappy’s owners so after his stray hold he was assessed and placed for adoption. In working with Scrappy staff saw that he was a very happy, wiggly dog with a lot of puppy energy. Scrappy is still working on his leash manners and learning not to pull as much. He seems to enjoy playing with toys, but is likely to destroy stuffed ones. Scrappy did well meeting new dogs and has recently been joining in on doggie playgroups and having a great time growing his confidence and running around with new furry friends! Scrappy has been out on a doggie date and gone to a few adoption events and has done wonderful meeting people and children of all ages!
Scrappy spent a few weeks in a foster to adopt home, but it unfortunately did not end up working out due to the other dog in the home not liking Scrappy. Scrappy did well with the dog, but they believed he was too energetic for the other dog who had begun to get snappy with him. Scrappy initially has an accident in the home, but after that seemed to be fully housetrained. He did well in his crate and would sleep through the night and spent time in there while the potential adopters were at work. They described him as a very sweet and loyal boy who loves to cuddle! We think Scrappy is growing into a great dog and deserves a wonderful family where he can learn to be his best self!
Scrappy is current on shots, licensed, and microchipped. All dogs over 6 months have been heartworm tested, and all dogs are treated monthly for fleas/ticks and are on Heartworm prevention (NexGard PLUS). All pets are spayed/neutered prior to a finalized adoption. All our dogs receive a behavior assessment before being placed for adoption to determine initial behaviors towards people and other dogs in the shelter environment. Dog Adoption Fees:
Puppies – 4 months and under: $200
Adult Dogs – 5 months and over: $95
Senior Dogs (7+ years old): $50
