Petey in Freedom, NH
Petey is a sweet, 12-year-old, 22 pound cattle dog mix (we have her DNA test). What a great size! Her person passed away last year and since January she’s been living with an older woman who can no longer keep her for personal reasons. Because of how Petey came to live with her current human, not a lot is known about her backstory.
Despite her age, Petey still loves to play and, like most cattle dogs, is very smart. She’s also a bit of a nervous gal and, per her training assessment, a “demand” barker. She can get a little overzealous with toys. But she’s also a snuggler who loves to hear “let’s go to bed!,” get lots of pets, and sit with — okay, ON — her human.
Petey would be best in a quieter home with one person or a couple and no other pets. She’s been around some other dogs and is generally behaved, but clear about boundaries. She hasn’t been observed around cats or kids, but giving their unpredictability, it’s likely they’re not her jam.
She’d really flourish with someone who can spend time bonding with her, training her, offering her mental enrichment, like treat puzzles or scent training. She definitely would love a yard, too (but keep an eye out, she can be a little bit of an escape artist).
Petey is up to date on all her vaccines and recently had a medical exam which indicated she is a heathy girl!
