My Story

This beautiful brindle babe is Winnie. She asked us to pass along two words to you: Tennis balls. They are her favorite in the whole world and she just wants someone to throw them for her so she can fetch them! You know those automatic tennis ball throwing machines? Well, we think Winnie would be the perfect dog to try it out and to see if they really work!
Another wonderful thing about Winnie is that she has lived with kiddos before and has loved her time with them. They were great to her, so it was easy for her to be respectful towards them. The home she used to live in was overall a quieter home, and we think she’d be most comfortable in a similar-paced home.
At first when meeting new people, Winnie is a cautious gal and she asks for a little bit of time. But if you have a tennis ball or a treat to offer her, she warms up and learns she can trust you. She may ask you to come back and meet her an extra time or two. We have loved seeing her develop trust with our staff and volunteers. Once she trusts you, she is the most loyal, well-mannered sweetheart.
One more positive thing about Winnie is how loyal she is. When Winnie understands that someone is a friend, she is social, happy-go-lucky, and quite silly sometimes! Her eye contact is nearly perfect and she is a joy to be around. She also knows how to sit, shake paws, and lay down. Perfectly polite manners!
We think she may do well with friendly males  dogs as she used to live with one. We are still monitoring her behavior around shelter  cats and other shelter pups. We will update soon! She is about two years old and is spayed.
