Type of a scam Phishing

The Scammer is claiming his name of RICHARD. He’s staying out of state and has purchased this home.

7115 Reed Rd

Houston, TX 77087

United States

I am sure the true owners have no idea someone is claiming they purchased the house and is being used to try and scam people.

Scammer stating he needs stucco work on this brick house. Caught him in a lie when I told asked him about the existing stucco on the house. ( Actual house shoes brick exterior)

Scammer claims he will pay me deposit before we start and that he would have loved to meet but he has to be by his wife side in “Teaching Hospital” yes, that’s the name of his imaginary hospital.

I wonder how they get my information.

Type of a scam Rental

I contacted person through email to get more information on a rental listing I saw on Craigslist. When they responded I could tell it was a scam they gave too much fake information about being out of town and how I could go by the property and look through windows. I’ve seen this type of scam before.

Type of a scam Home Improvement

I am handyman listed on Home Advisor. Over the past several months, I get text messages regarding work needing done. This most recent one asked for a quote to install blinds. I asked them where they lived and he replied Oshkosh. Oshkosh is out of my area and I recommended a local company before he asked what area do I service. Suddenly he lives in Oshkosh but needs work done in Milwaukee.

In similar situations (always involving text messages) I was given a specific address and the home would be on the market ‘for sale by owner’. I would contact the number listed on the sign and they had no idea about the work.

Type of a scam Romance

This man on the OkCupid dating website poses as a civil engineer with a high military rank stationed in Khabul, Afghanistan. He says he lives in Walnut, California and that he will retire and come home in March. After 4 days of texting, sending pictures with service people, as it is Christmas, I asked if he needed anything. Among sneakers, towels and toiletries, he is requesting a laptop/a MacBook no less, and a phone. I did a reverse phone look up on 6463966775 and it appears as a landline in New York.
