I got a call on my land line this morning from someone who said he was my grandson. He called me Gram. He said he had been arrested in NYC for an auto accident, DWI. His nose was broken and stitches in his lip. A woman supposedly ran a red light and caused the accident but he was arrested, could make one call which was me (by the way he never calls me) but "Gram" was on my grandson’s lost cell phone. He said he was in NYC, could use the phone for only 5 minutes, gave me a case #. Said his lawyer would call me right back. Someone did who said he was the lawyer. I told him he might better talk to my daughter, gave her his phone number, she called him. The "lawyer" said the hearing was within an hour and he had to have the bond ($2,000) before the hearing. My daughter was going to pay the bond but got suspicious, checked it out with someone she knew in NYC court issues. It was a scam. Called grandson he was at work in another state.
