My Story

Introducing Loryn , a brave foster dog in search of the love of her life!
Loryn is a tiny girl, and the world can seem overwhelmingly big and scary to her right now. She came from a hoarding case and is still learning how to navigate life as a beloved  pet. When she first arrived, she and another  dog sought comfort by huddling together in a corner. It took them weeks to gather the courage to venture out of their playpen and begin exploring their surroundings.
Although Loryn is still apprehensive about being picked up, she has made remarkable progress in trusting humans. If you are sitting down, she will eagerly come to you, longing for the love and security that only a kind soul can provide. Bedtime is a special routine for Loryn, as she knows when it’s time to settle down for the night. She will follow her foster mom to bed and snuggle up on the pillow next to her. Before drifting off to sleep, Loryn will even get close to say goodnight, showing her affectionate nature, before finding her own cozy spot.
Loryn is searching for someone who possesses boundless patience and an abundance of love. She needs a compassionate and understanding companion who can help her navigate the world at her own pace. If you are someone who can offer Loryn the time, support, and affection she needs to continue her journey of learning to be a  dog, she will reward you with unwavering loyalty and a love like no other.

What breed am I? Mixed  mutt! ODHS does not breed label (unless there’s official paperwork), as studies show it is nearly impossible to tell the exact breed of each  dog based off of their appearance.

The 3-3-3 Rule – Guideline for Dogs

Adoption Donations are $275 for an adult, $375 for  puppies (a dog under one year of age), and $175 for a senior  dog (based on the age of the dog). More “sought out breeds may have a higher adoption donation) Adoption donations are to be made via cash, or credit/debit card. There is a $5 fee to run cards. We do not accept checks for adoption fees.
Please remember to bring a martingale collar and leash (non-retractable) with you the day of the adoption.
We typically have adoption events on Wednesdays 5-7pm, Fridays 6-8pm, and Saturdays 11am to 3pm. Our adoption center is located at 3602 Lafayette Blvd, Suite 101, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. It’s important that you keep an eye on your emails for any changes or updates during the adoption process.
 Old Dominion Humane Society is a volunteer based organization. We are run completely by volunteers, who also have full time jobs, so we appreciate your patience. Currently, the average timeframe for a response to your application is 1 week.
