A bit about me:
Lizard Mama was brought into  Manhattan ACC by NYPD after her owner was unable to care for her any longer.
My ideal home:
While we don’t have a history on Lizard Mama, we do know she’s an enthusiastic, and social  dog who will thrive with daily mental and physical activities. To keep her happily engaged and exercised, we recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and fun hide-and-seek games, along with plenty of physical exercise. With the right activities, her energy and enthusiasm will be positively directed!
Good with other  pets?
On walks, Lizard Mama has been observed to pull towards other  dogs. At the shelter, she had a calm and neutral behavior when greeting  dogs through a gate. She might get along well with new  doggy friends with proper introductions and socialization. We always suggest slow introductions with resident pets, and we offer a 2-week trial adoption to help you see if Lizard Mama is a good fit with your family. Since ACC doesn’t test with  cats, we’re not sure how she’d do with feline friends, but we can help you with tips and advice!
Good with kids?
Since Lizard Mama came to us as a stray, we don’t have much information about her past. We always recommend slow introductions where Lizard Mama can meet people at her own pace. With patience and training, she’ll be a wonderful addition to a loving family!
How is my health?
Lizard Mama has some health concerns that our staff will discuss with you.
How are my  leash manners?
Lizard Mama has been observed to pull towards other  dogs while on the street. This behavior is not easily redirected. She will need positive reinforcement, reward based training to teach her to look at you rather than other  dogs. We recommend a front clip harness to help manage this behavior.
What is my behavior assessment?
Lizard Mama has been assessed as a Level 2  dog. She is a sweet and social older  dog that could use help with her leash manners. It’s important to let Lizard Mama warm up at her own pace and never force her to interact with new people. With patience and understanding, she’ll make a wonderful companion.
