My Story
Good things come in small packages- Meet Garth!
Garth was rescued from a kill shelter in Augusta, Georgia. He is a 7-month-old Terrier/Chihuahua mix weighing in at 12 pounds of pure cuteness. His white coat, big ears, and curly tail make up his superstar looks. Here is what his foster mom has to say:
Garth is a happy and fun pup. He is super sweet and loves to follow me around the house. His adorable floppy ear bounces when he walks and the other stands straight up! He is shy initially but comes out of his shell with some love and patience. He loves to lounge on the couch and watch the birds and squirrels from the window. For a 7 month old puppy, Garth has great potty habits. He knows to do his business outside and accidents are few and far between. Garth sleeps through the night in his crate and is making progress with leash walking. He gets along great with dogs both big and small. He likes to cuddle on the couch with our chihuahua and he LOVES to play with and follow our husky mix around. His curly tail is always wagging!
Due to his past, Garth can be shy with new people initially but comes around with time, patience, and love. Nevertheless, Garth is a spunky pup who prioritizes fun every day. He also likes to play with toys and is happy to share them with other dogs, cats, and kids, though he does ask that children in the home have patience with him while he acclimates.
Garth is a born entertainer, whether thats playing with friends or enjoying time to himself with his toys. Garth is learning so much at his foster home, and he cant wait to show them to his forever family.

HFG Dog Rescue is a 100 percent foster-based rescue located in Berkeley Heights, NJ with a sister location, The Almost Home Wellness Center, in Aiken, SC. All of our dogs are rescued from kill shelters in SC + GA and once ready for adoption live in loving local NJ foster homes until they find forever families of their own. Our fosters begin basic training, housebreaking, and leash-walking skills to help pair you with the perfect pup for life!
