My Story
This is a courtesy listing for a friend of the rescue.
They have been transferred to an army base out of state where they are only allowed to bring 3 of their 5 pets due to regulations. They are asking for help for the 2 that are adoptable as their other three pets are special needs/ paralyzed.
We will forward your applications to the owner.
They will adopt within 20 miles of Des Plaines, IL.
Blackie is very affectionate to his humans. We nicknamed him “Blackula” because his fangs are almost always showing. His favorite pastimes are eating, sleeping, and being an alpha. He can be a bully to other animals and will instigate conflict by swatting at the dog or cat as he walks by or blocking the stairs. Based on his time with us, I’m convinced he would be happier as an “only” cat who receives all human attention. Blackie needs thyroid medicine twice a day which is necessary to keep his weight up and prevent kidney issues from developing, but he’s an easy cat to pill.
-10 years old (best guess)
-Male/Neutered
-Microchipped
-Hyperthyroidism (Felimazol 2x daily)
-Easy nail trims
Additional notes:
-Blackie and Grizzly were originally taken in from a suspected animal hoarding situation.
-Blackie and Grizzly get along with each other and can be adopted together.
-Blackie does display domination behavior with Grizzly (primarily neck biting and holding down) but no fighting. Interestingly, Grizzly just goes along with it.
-When we took them in, I was told they were a bonded pair; but based on my observation over the last 3 years, I don’t believe this is true.
