"We’re contacting you about your car warranty extension." All of my cars are 10+ years old and were not bought new, so I know that this is a total lie. When I asked them the name of their company or who they were with, I received a very vague reply, where the female on the other end of the line used the same words of her first statement in a different order.

I get called at least 5-10 times a week with this scammer. Prerecorded message asking if my car has over a hundred thousand miles? Next question is do you want to buy an extended warranty for my car.. no matter what is said (assuming everything except yes) the call is immediately ended by the caller.

I initially received two letters letting me know my car warranty was about to expire and that I could renew it with this company. I had no interest in extending it so threw these letters away. They had all of the information about my specific vehicle and my info, so initially thought it may be a legit offer, so did not report it. However, for the past 4-6 months (maybe even longer), I’ve been receiving multiple phone calls a week… Sometimes mutliple a day

.. saying they have not heard back from me about extending the warranty and wanted to give a final offer. At it’s worst, I’ve gotten 5 calls a day. I’ve included some of those numbers above, but not all. I had already received 2 calls today, so when the third came in I was fed up and thought "okay, that’s it, I’m going to speak to someone and demand the calls stop." This rash decision was my down fall… Because after I said "yes" about wanting to speak to a customer service rep, the call disconnected… And I realized I foolishly just fell for what they really wanted and gave them a recorded "yes". Now I have bigger worries than just unwanted phone calls. This just occurred today… So uncertain if there will be any unwanted charges to an account…but I’ll be watching closely as I definitely expect there to be.

You receive an unsolicited phone call from a number you do not recognize and they claim that they are an auto warranty company that has sent you notices that your warranty has expired. Regardless of whether you have a warranty or not. Then they ask if you want to speak to an agent. All they are trying to do is get you to say "Yes." into the phone and if you do they disconnect. Based on other schemes of this type, they will then use you saying "yes" to charge other items to your phone, bank, or credit card account, assuming they have that information.

I responded "yes" after multiple calls to which I simply hung up, in order to tell them to take me off their list. No matter my intent, they still got me saying "yes". Now I have to watch my bills for fraudulent charges…

This is similar to the "Can you hear me?" scam.
