Type of a scam Phishing

I received a text on my cell phone as follows:

"Affirm.com: NEVER share your verification code via call or text. If someone asks for the code, it’s a scam. Your code is ####."

Until now, I had never even heard of affirm. When I called affirm, they claimed they didn’t have my phone number in their system. Yet, the text came from 58083, which is the short code used by affirm, and the link in the message is to affirm.com; obviously from affirm. So… phishing?

I have never had any contact with Affirm.com yet I received a text on Friday 1/31/20 sending me a code. The text did not show a regular phone number, just 580-83. I had to look Affirm up to find out what it was. I have not asked for a loan or purchased anything using Affirm. ( I blacked out the alleged code that they sent but I am willing to provide it if necessary.)
