Type of a scam Online Purchase

I found a website online through a breeders website, the scammer was a website selling puppies from North Carolina. The website was believable and had multiple puppies on there. We picked one and contacted them, we were texting and not on the phone, which i thought was weird but then he stated he was at work so couldn’t talk. Then he explained they could ship the puppy via airline since i am located in New York. the puppy was a very reasonable price plus $150. i then tried to pay through the website and it wouldn’t work. he then asked me if i had paypal i said yes and he requested i pay to him through friends and and family so he doesn’t have to pay a business fee. Fine, did that then he refunded and said he has a limit on that email so please send it to his wives email, which i did. Then he said he will contact me once the shipping company is ready with the puppy. Then he sends me an email with the shipping company. Finally, the shipping company sends me an email demanding $1375 refundable insurance payment through WESTERN UNION, which i will get back when the puppy arrives. i said ok this is a scam and then asked for my money back. The scammer of course did not do that and i am now out $600, which i can hopefully get back. Do not purchase doggies online unless you are absolutely have some recourse.
