Type of a scam Online Purchase

Ordered a puppy from a lady claiming to be Martha Rosalia. She stated she was located in Texas. We sent $300 via PayPal to a "relative" named Lori Charno. She responded back stating she has received the money. She then went to the shipping company named Freight Express Drop to ship the puppy to us. At first, we were informed that due to weather the shipment was put on hold, then again the next day. We questioned the lady which then supposedly went to the company to ask what is going on. We were assured the puppy would be shipped the following day. The following morning we received a call from the shipping company and an e-mail informing us that due to shipping regulation and weather that the dog would need an air compressed crate for an additional $900 for rent. After looking on the internet we discovered that the shipment company is listed on www.petscams.com that is has been listed as a scam. All correspondence has been via phone calls from the shipping company, texts from the seller or messaging via Facebook messenger.
