Total money lost $2.95

Type of a scam Counterfeit Product

They called to offer a 10 day free trial of ID theft protection service with the promise of $100 gift card to be sent in mail. I was asked to pay for the mailing at $2.95. I was told I could cancel the membership at any time. The package did not arrive in 7 days, so I called. They gave me a five day extension. When the mail finally arrived 11 days later, I opened the mail. It was not a package as described initially, just a thin envelope with a forever stamp. Inside is a single sheet of paper with very thin information about the program, and a gift card code. You go to the website as directed and put in the code. It does not work. I called to complain and they gave me another toll free number to call. I called and they had no idea what I was talking about, so they were going to have the customer service call me back. I tried to call to cancel, but now somehow they make me hold forever, saying I am the first in line, the wait time only 15 seconds, but just keeps holding my call. It became clear by then that this was a scam and fraud. Sure, they only took a small amount of money, but if they did this to many people, they could turn a profit out of this fraud.
