Type of a scam Employment

A Medecor Pharma representative contacted me via text message for an at home job opportunity. I ofcourse remained skeptical but accepted. The only contact is thru texting. I called and no one would answer. I deposited a start-up check sent from their business. So it is not held against me, my bank put a 7 day hold for it to be available. I was assured the money deposited will be to purchase my laptop and the software needed to do my work. While waiting for their check to clear, Iam texted a task to purchase a $100 iTunes gift card for my laptop, which I haven’t received yet. But to also keep an eye out for customer service… this I didn’t understand. I requested the head departments number, I was denied. I called, no one answered. I want to know if this is a real work from home opportunity, or a scam to laundry funds.
