My Story

What a handsome boy! Barrack is looking for a new home due to allergies among some members of his current family. We (FFOCAS) are helping his loving family find him his forever home.
Barrack is very playful and is super affectionate with his family. He loves walks, hikes, and car rides. And as you can see in the video, one of his favorite activities is playing with bubbles. Barrack also likes to bring a toy to one of his people and entice you to grab it or chase him. 🙂 His current family feels that he would do best with a large, fenced yard and family members who have time to play with him.
When visitors arrive at the home, Barrack will bark only initially. He may not be immediately ready to interact with new people. This is not surprising for this breed — German shepherds are supposed to be wary of unfamiliar people and Barrack displays this trait but does so very nicely. When our volunteer met Barrack to assess him, he was not interested in interacting directly with her during the 15-minute visit … but he was super polite about it! He would glance toward her and away, tail and body in neutral, relaxed positions, as if to say, “Welcome to my home, I’d like to be friends but I’m not ready for you to pet me yet,” which he is allowed to say. He was, however, comfortable enough to play with bubbles our volunteer blew for him. 😉 Because Barrack is, in this way, very German shepherdy, we are looking for an adopter who has experience with German shepherds or guardian/protective dogs — purely so that Barrack can continue to just be himself without anyone expecting him to be a golden retriever. 🙂
This handsome guy has done well with other dogs and enjoys playing with them. He has never lived with cats, but he has chased rabbits encountered in the yard, so a home without cats or other small pets is probably best.
Barrack is up to date on vaccinations and has no known health issues. He will be neutered prior to adoption. He is house trained and has not needed a crate since he was very young.
Interested? Please get in touch via email ([email protected]) or through PetFinder. We’ll ask you to fill out a rehoming application to keep this process as safe as possible for all involved, especially Barrack!
