Type of a scam Employment

I was contacted by email about a job opportunity. I had updated my resume online so I thought nothing about it. This was last year in September 2019. Seems like every other job. They ship you the goods and then you check and make sure everything is there. I take pictures they send me a FedEx label and then I reship the items. Nothing ever shipped overseas it was just to different people in the states. Well they only pay through PayPal which isn’t abnormal, paypal is used for payment all the time. So I got suspicious when I got sent money from someone not Samantha Needles or Alex Benard, who is the HR manager. They never stole any money from me, but the cops did come by asking about a package from Wayfair but it had my parents name on it but my address. Which is odd. I didn’t connect the two until the recent payment. I haulted contact with them and removed all my banking information from PayPal because I started googling them again. When I first started there was no information on them which I asked about and they said they were really new so I just went on like normal. These companies prey on people who need the extra cash. I did not know what they were doing was illegal or anything. Or if they were even a scam. I didn’t ship too many packages for them maybe like 30 over the course or a year but it is scary that they can get access to your financial institution this way as well as your personal information.
