Type of a scam Counterfeit Product

While waiting in a long line at the Wi Dept of Motor Vehicles, I used my smart phone to attempt to submit a drivers license renewal form online. I pulled up Google and entered the address that was on my official DMV form letter. app.wi.gov.dlguides There were some links that showed up, so I clicked the "renew my license" link and entered my data. From my smart phone the website looked official. I even had to enter my social security number, which made sense, because to renew a drivers license I needed my social security card to verify identity. Then I was asked to enter my credit card data. Thinking they would charge me the $42 fee listed on my form letter I entered the info. The charges came up to something like $26, which was confusing. Then a link popped up for me to download the guide for renewing my drivers license . . which I had just purchased. At this point I knew I was on the wrong website, and did not hit download. So far there appears to be an unknown charge on my credit card for like $4.22. It was a suspicious, out of country, link. Not much other information was available. My credit card company said I have to wait until the charge appears in order to dispute. I’m concerned that I not only gave my credit card number, but also my social security number. The clerk at the desk of the DMV said he had heard of this before and that it is "legal", and he recommended I contact you.
