Type of a scam COVID-19

This is a fake check scam including Covid-19 and mystery shopper. The text message was sent to me by a friend who I trusted. I didn’t ask him if he had tried being a Mystery Shopper for Whole Foods. The text message came with an application and I applied for the job. In a couple weeks I received a check for $2,860.50 and instructions to perform my duty which was to deposit the check and get three money orders for $800.00 ea. I was so stupid to do this because I had started to realize that something seemed wrong. I was in contact with scammer (Ted) by text and he was encouraging me to continue with the task and telling me what to do. I was already in a hurry and distracted by effects of recent civil unrest. I was trying to be "honest" and trying to hurry because I was planning to go out of town. I mailed the money orders to the scammer by UPS. I thought the check had cleared and that my checking account was ok. I checked my account again on Thur. 6-18-2020 and my balance was $0. I realized that the whole thing was just a Scam. After looking it up, I found that the address where I sent my money is a UPS store.
