Type of a scam Employment

Was contacted via email, there was very little red flags in the email conversation until I was asked to continue the conversation on Telegram group chat app. Once conversing on it there were many red flags, instantly saying my short interview questions a day later that I was hired. No phone conversation was made at all. All my conversation was with a H.R. Greg Varner but then this morning I had a different Greg Varner contacted me and tried to send me 3 iPhones that was never part of the conversation. They sent me a check for $9,900 to "buy my equipment" saying that I will need to take out $168 to pay the "Vendors" then later was told that I need to buy a $200 eBay gift card. Talk about laundering some money into untraceable way. Unfortunately I did bought the gift card and sent to Greg. Later they tried to hack my phone account. So far I’ve updated my security with my banking, and cell phone; by changing the logins and passwords. Looking back on the emails I was contacted by a Helen with a terrible gmail account for email. And there were a lot of typos. I wish I found this website sooner.
