My mom received a call from her "grandson" saying he was in jail and needed $8,000 to get out. She was to hold on to be transferred to his "public defender" to learn what she needed to do. "Grandson" apologized and said he would pay her back.

Attorney came on the phone with these instructions: she was to go to Home Depot and buy 8 gift cards and put $1000 on each one, then call the attorney with the numbers on the gift cards and he would see that "grandson" was released, that day, if possible. She was under no circumstances to tell anyone what she was doing as the whole case (No. 7421-3926-17) was under a gag order by the judge.
