Type of a scam Online Purchase

My husband and I contacted a person selling a 2014 Sienna on ***. The ad said not to contact through *** but at a specific email address ([email protected]). After expressing interest in the van she responded saying she was selling through VTC (vunexa Trading corporation) and we have to register with them to get the vehicle shipped to us. I asked several times where she was located before she said Quebec. She claimed it was safe and secure and provided a link to the website. After registering, we immediately received an invoice for the van. She sent several emails a day asking for the money to be wired to vunexa to complete the transaction. After becoming increasingly suspicious, we did some research. The company itself doesn’t show up at all on Google searches, it claimed to be ScamPulse.com accredited but there are no records on the bureau website. No one had heard of this company. We had called police headquarters, insurance brokers, and no one heard of it. The address listed on the invoice is some apartment building in the UK, not a business. The website itself was unsecured. And the contract number never connected to a representative (always couldn’t take the call). The "seller" would not provide a phone number to reach her at. Thankfully, I never sent any money.
