Initial means of contact Internet messaging (e.g., WhatsApp)

Individual contacted me posing as a member of the U.S. Air Force deployed overseas. Pictures were sent to me of a female in USAF uniform that were obtained from a real USAF member’s Instagram account. Individual stated she was about to receive and inheritance soon after returning to the states. Individual also informed me her “lawyer” was advancing her a large sum of the inheritance so she could purchase some “Gold & Jewries” before leaving the country. She solicited me to open a checking account at my bank and deposit the check her “lawyer” was mailing to me. Her “lawyer” mailed me three blank checks, which immediately raised a red flag. I will be contacting USPS postal inspectors to alert them of this mail fraud.
