I received a Priority Mail envelope containing a check and a letter giving me instructions on what to do with the enclosed check.

Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

Mystery Shopper to buy Walmart gift cards. Received check to cash then go to 2 different Walmarts and buy total of 7 gift cards 300.00 each to determine if they are selling the correct gift cards. Check was for 2440.00 received 2100.00 cash to purchase cards left 340.00 as payment. Told buy the cards then send photos of card numbers and pins. Then sent report about experience. After I did all this husband said this was a scam and showed me reports on you tube of exactly what I had just did. So notified bank of fraudulent check and to watch accounts. Next went back to Walmart to regroup the gift cards balances by way of issuing new cards with the previous ones balances. So this way I would not be out the money once the bank takes the money out of my account to cover the bad check. Will lose the bad check cashing fee and now have 2100.00 to spend at Walmart but that will be used eventually through grocery shopping and miscellaneous items. Lots of Walmart shopping in my future now. Lessons learned.

Was sent a check for 2,440.00 was told to deposit it into my bank take $340.00 for myself and then to go buy gift cards from Walmart as part of a secret shoppers job.

Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

Sent me a check to cash and keep a portion and instructed me to buy Walmart gift cards with the other to evaluate customer service as a mystery shopper. Used a very authentic looking cashiers check from Suntrust bank. Arrived via FexEx.
