Type of a scam Phishing

I received a phone call from a Chicago number which I missed. I immediately received a text from the same number claiming that they were very interested in a car I had posted on autotrader. They asked me to email them a "car background check report" from vincheckreports.com. After some searching on google I was fairly convinced that this was a scam so I replied to the text message asking question to try to get more information about them. They replied with very vague responses about how they were "excited to buy the car" and never answered the basic questions I was asking. This makes me think that it was probably a bot. After a while they included a name in one of their texts at the end "- Craig" which seemed contradictory to their email address. Since it was clear that I wouldn’t get any useful information out of them I decided to report them.
