Type of a scam Online Purchase

I was contacted by a prospective ‘buyer’ for a vehicle listed on Craigslist. He insisted on a VIN report from this particular company: https://www.vincheck.report/index.php I foolishly agreed and paid for the report after which I never heard from this person again. He used the email address: mailto:[email protected] during all communications. I paid with Paypal so hopefully they only managed a fraudulent sale and didn’t capture any personal information but it’s clear these folks are scanning Craigslist and under the fraudulent guise of interested buyers are generating sales and clicks on their site. I hope that’s the limit of it and there’s not additional malware risks with these scammers.

This scammer wants your email address then wants you to go to an alternate CarFax type service that costs less. That site then apparently leads to a situation that harms your computer.
