Type of a scam Employment

This is a tricky scam and hard to notice if you are not careful. I was offered employment through Upwork (real legit site) by a company called Verifone (real company as well). I was told I would have to complete an interview through Google Hangouts ONLY-1st red flag. The questions were legit and you could feel like you are actually conducting an interview. Red flag number 2; email address on Google Hangouts is [email protected] After the interview, I was offered the job as Analyst/Administrative Assistant working from home. I was told by a Dr. Kwiyoung Baumgarten (real employee who works for Verifone) that I would receive an offer letter first thing in the morning. I would then be given funds to purchase everything I need to do my job correctly. Once I received the employment offer from Dr. Kwiyoung Baumgarten, email address: [email protected], I looked over the paperwork and noticed a TON of errors. The spacing is off, there are typos and miss spelled words everywhere. (HUGE RED FLAG). The email address on the forum they give you bounces back. ([email protected])

Oh, Dr. Kwiyoung Baumgarten title is NOT Superior! They then have "accounting" sends you a check via PDF, email [email protected], that you have to print and take a photo for mobile deposit. Because it is not a real check, your bank will come back and say "Cannot verify account number". (GIANT RED FLAG LISTEN TO YOUR BANK). When you tell them that the check is not clearing they tell you "the company will send you a check through one of our affiliates, so the name of the bank will be different." They sent me another email with another check, to which I said enough is an enough. After calling Verifone they told me "we do NOT offer at home work. If you want to be an independent contractor apply through our website." This company has locations all over the world so falling for this can be easy. Trust your gut and do NOT let them scam you.
