We have a vehicle listed on kijiji for sale. We were contacted by a company claiming they had a buyer interested in our truck and made it all sound perfectly legit, from a professional and detailed website, documents for agreements, everything. They claimed to be in Vancouver but that the buyers are a short 45min drive from us.

We gave credit card info and signed the “agreement” that this would only be a temporary hold and that we would receive the $500USD ($657CAD) back as soon as the buyers brought us the certified bank draft for the purchase of the truck or no more then 15 days.

They asked for credit card info, name, billing address and demanded we send a photo of the credit card and drivers licence to ensure we were in fact the credit card holder. Needless to say we did not send it. The company claimed we could call anytime within 3 days of the agreement and cancel with a full refund of the deposit minus the one time administrative fee of $195.

After trying to get a hold of the “salesman” we made the agreement with and being told he is busy, or unavailable but will call back soon we have full belief this is anything but a scam. Out $650 with no way to fight it. Credit card company won’t do anything about it except preventing of them charging further purchases on the cc.

If a deal seems to good to be true it’s because it is 🙁

Contacted on Kijiji wanting to purchase my truck. They had a preapproved customer to buy my truck. But for the deal to go through I had to pay $500 member fee but you get that back from them when the deal is signed. Long story short. Deal never comes and you just paid $500 for them to post your car on there website.
