Type of a scam Other

These people from University Sports Publications are scammers. They call our business on a regular basis and lie about who they are and what this is regarding. Today they said they were calling from the California Department of Transportation, other days they have said they were calling from U.C. Berkeley, U.C. Davis, Denver VA Hospital, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, etc…. They always ask for high executive positions, people who have their calls screened. When I ask what this is regarding they always say it’s about "upcoming projects" or something similar and extremely vague. The first time they called, they managed to slip through and made it over to the CEO, he told me later that it was a spam call. Since then whenever they call I’ve noticed. If you ask to be removed from their call list, they insist they don’t have a call list to remove you from. If you ask if they are calling from University Sports Publications they insist they don’t know who that is. 99.9% of the time they do not want to leave a voicemail. Sometimes they will say yes they would but I transfer them to my own voicemail and they don’t leave a message. One time I had someone call back and ask to be sent to our owners specific mailbox and she actually basically yelled at me when I insisted that wasn’t possible. Today I finally decided to call the number back, and I asked to be removed from the list. The person I spoke with claimed to be just the after hours answering service and they can’t help me, but they could send an email. I called them back within seconds of hanging up with one of their incoming calls. they said it was after hours after 5:00. even though they are based out of California, where it was only 2:00 pm. The two most recent liars to call from this number were Ross Caylor (Taylor?) and Jarrett Baker. I’m not actually completely sure of their end-game. If they would ask for credit card payment or something like that, but I can’t imagine they could be very legitimate if they are fraudulently representing themselves when they call.
