Type of a scam Government Grant

The calls originate from a call center. Other voices can always be heard in the background. Once answered, a person, usually with a thick foreign accent will inform you that they are calling on behalf of the United States Government Grant Department and inform you that the government is willing to offer you money that will not need to be paid back.

The person on the line will then attempt to acquire as much personal information as possible. If you refuse to provide information or show skepticism/disinterest, the operator will inform you that failure to provide said information will remove you from any future consideration for government assistance for the rest of your life. Continuing to decline will lead the operator to hang up.

Even after declining the offer, I received the same phone call a week later, with a new operator, utilizing the same script/playbook.
