Type of a scam Online Purchase

I bought a cockatoo and they used United Pet Express to ship the bird. The company informed me that the state of Virginia required a deposit of $2,400.00 to cover any problems with the delivery. The money was to be given back to me when I pickup the bird. Then it was the bird needed shots prior to shipment which cost $750.00, which I was stupid enough to send. Then when the bird was to picked up at my local airport, I received a message from their delivery man wanting another $690.00 to drop off the bird and my refund. Can not get the refund unless I pay for the delivery. That did it I could not even verify if the bird was real or if all of this had been a scam. I was stupid enough to send the other money, but I am not going to add to the amount.
