Type of a scam Credit Repair/Debt Relief

The company emailed me claiming that my college has filed a "cause of action" claim and that they may have lied to me or covered something up. They say that they can see if I qualify to have my student loan forgiven, payments reimbursed, and credit repaired. They also want me to forward the email to others I know. They do not list my name or my schools name specifically anywhere in the email. I have been a victim of one of these scams before and don’t want anyone else falling into their trap and believe it should be illegal.
