Type of a scam Advance Fee Loan

My mother was bombarded with calls for a pay day loan that I supposedly owed on- but I had already paid off. When I called in and spoke with Amanda Dixon she said it was my old bank who was suing me for fees that were incurred from the payday loan- they wanted to sue me for nearly $3000 over a $90 fee! They "settled" with me for $390 which I jumped at since I believed they were going to take me to court if I didn’t pay and I don’t have $3000. They promised I would receive an email with proof that I had paid and I would’t be sued. I still haven’t gotten my email and now I can’t get in touch with them any more. I googled the number they have listed on my bank statement and everyone is reporting it as a scam. I want my money back!

They called me from a Northern NJ number (201 area code) but they’re listed as being in NC on my bank statement.
