Type of a scam Government Grant

The call came in to my work telephone number. The caller had a heavy accent. I was told that the US government wanted to give me a $9000 grant because I have been good about paying my taxes on time. They gave me a confirmation # and told me to call 3602057054 as soon as possible to claim my grant. When I called the number , I was told to go to either a Walgreens or a Walmart store and get a grant approval ID# for $250 and call back with the number. They said the $250 dollars would be added to the grant money. When I told them that I could not go to either store because I was at work, they told me to go tomorrow and call back and ask for Jane Dawson. I was also told that the stores were not aware of this and not to let anyone know about it.

Type of a scam Government Grant

I received a call last week Thursday which was the 10th of November, from a gentleman stating that I was selected to receive a government grant. I had received a similar call earlier this year from another person via Facebook. However, this time the gentleman was able to give me more details about what I would need to do to receive the grant and why I was selected. What made me realize his intentions was when he stated that I would need to pay 200 dollars U.S currency to activate an I-Tunes gift card first. The grant was for 8,000 dollars U.S. I spoke with him again today at 1:30 this afternoon. When I did, I asked him why they couldn’t just wire the funds to my prepaid card instead of me having to go and buy a 200 dollar card just to activate the funds. He gave me some excuse about there being no other way to send the funds and I simply told him that I don’t have access to those funds and I don’t know anyone who would lend me so much money. I hope that you are able to stop these scam artists before they try it on someone more naïve.
