Type of a scam Government Grant

I have been contacted by several people with heavy foriegn accents, all claiming to be with the U.S. Grants Dept. They call at least 5 times a day from the # 646-912-9328. At first they wouldn’t say anything and would hang up. The last 2 days they call and say a name similar to mine and say I have been selected to receive a grant for $9,000. The first person I spoke with said they were officer neil walker and ended up hanging up because I asked to many questions. Then I answered a call from a man claiming to be with the same dept who said his name was Brian Smith. So I questioned him and told him I think he is a scammer and he began saying things like "oh my god" and "just believe me." This Brian person even knew my address and I just moved a month ago. He said he was located in Washington D.C. and said the address is 200 Independence Ave SW and when I asked the Zip code he said 80754 which is clearly not correct. So I proceeded to ask how they will send me the money and told them I will not give any info. He said he will mail me paperwork to fill out and I can either fill it out or not. Which I will not fill it out but I’m hoping they will send something so I can look for more information. That’s when I found out he already had my address. I called my local sheriff’s department and they couldn’t do aNY thing so I’m hoping this report will help.

They called and identified themselves as U. S. Government Grants Department. They guys name was David with and Indian accent. He wanted to know if i was interested in receiving $9,700 in grant money which I qualified for by not committing felonies, paying my bills on time, and a few other details he spit really fast. I was at work so i asked him a few questions like could this grant be applied to my existing school debt which is only $3k. His answer was yes. I then got a weird feeling abut this call because the IRS just took $5,081 of my taxes to apply to my outstanding debt. So my thought was if they took money from me why would the turn around and give me more than they took from me? I then said give me your information and I’ll call you back when I get off work. He then gave me the address of 762 Cambridge Rd. Washington D.C. & phone number 202-552-3799 with a ref# that was supposed to be my grant ID#. I googled them just to see others had reported them as scammers.

I answered a phone call from 360-761-4353 and a heavily-accented woman identified herself as working with the U.S. Grants Department. She informed me that my name was one of 700 people in my city to receive $7,000 in grant money. This money was being given to me because I pay my bills on time and am a good citizen, I was told. When she asked me how I would like to receive this free money, I threw her a curveball, saying that I would like to give the money back to the government to help pay off the national debt. She then explained that I don’t have to pay anything. I repeated my desire to help the government with my free grant money and she again said I don’t have to pay anything. Okay, I said, then in that case I would like to donate my grant money back to the government to help pay down the national debt. At that point, she stopped talking and I could hear several boiler room operators speaking to other grant money "winners." I then ended the call. I received a similar call last week offering me $9,000 in grant money but I was driving at the time and dismissed the caller with vague answers to his quesions.
