Type of a scam Government Grant

On February 15, 2017, I received a phone call from a person claiming to be from the U.S Grant Agency. The person said that the U.S was giving me a $9,000 grant. First, I needed to select how I would receive the funds. So I selected to have the funds transferred into my savings account. Second, I needed to pay a $250.00 registration fee. So I bought $250.00 in iTunes gift cards and gave up the codes to pay the fee. Third, I needed to pay a fee for funds being transfers into my savings account. So I bought $850.00 in iTunes gift cards and gave up the codes to pay that fee. When my funds were not transferred, I asked why I did not receive my funds. I was told that the IRS w[censored]ding my funds until I pay a 10% tax fee. Then I explained to Veronica that she did not tell me that I would have to pay taxes on the money. She responded that the IRS caught her off guard, she did not know the IRS would get involved. Next, I refused to pay $900 more in iTunes gift cards.
