I get several calls from different phone numbers or they block the number and it only appears as "unknown caller," from a call center identifying itself as the U.S Government Grant Department. They always say that I have been chosen to receive a free government grant for $5,400, but in order to get it I have to pay a one-time processing fee of $299–which I can do by getting a GreenDot card and loading the funds and then calling them back to provide the receive code. Once processed, the $5,400 will be deposited to my bank account within 24-48 hours. As many times I have asked them to remove my phone number, they keep calling. They sound like they are from India. When I asked for an address, they always hang up.

Scammer called twice. The first time the call was dropped then they waited about half an hour to call again. I have put my number on a do not call list as advised by my service provider and they still gave me a call and hung up when I told them about it. They said they were apart of the U.S. Government Grant Department and offered me a "grant" in exchange for personal information.
