Type of a scam Government Grant

Received several phone calls from representatives who spoke English with heavy accents. The first one could not be understood. The second one was understandable and reported her name as Amanda or Miranda. They said that I had been selected for a free grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services based on the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The primary stipulation on the money was to not use it for anything illegal. They requested bank info and debit card info which was not provided to them. The only other option for receiving the grant for $14,589 was to put the money on a prepaid card. They provided a "money code" that would need to be used when I called back after obtaining the prepaid card. The phone numbers given were identified as being "Financial Treasury Department" numbers: 253-201-4764 and 253-289-5071. I was encouraged to keep trying to reach someone at either of those numbers, but that I might have to call a number of times because the lines would likely be busy assisting other awardees.

Because of my suspicious concerns about getting that much money for nothing, I went to my local library to do a computer seach on this program. The approach used with me used nearly every statement listed on possible approaches. I am competent and would not want someone less able to believe this scam if they were called.
