I was contacted by this company Trustmark National that said I owed a debt for Fingerhut that they took to court and got a judgement on and they would settle for 915.00. The contact person I spoke with is Tina Lee. She spoke to me in a threatening manner that if I did not pay this debt right away, within a business day, they would take other actions. I told her I did not have the money to pay it, so she said I could make monthly payments of 100.00. I told her I could not afford this as I am on disability for mental illness, so she said they had a separate rate of 70.00 per month that I could pay. Unfortunately, at the time, I was going through some problems and I took her at her word. I gave her my debit card information by fax, which is how she wanted it done. I just came to my senses and asked her to fax me all the information she has on me and this debt, as I am not sure if this is really my debt or if I am being scammed. She has not done this. The phone number for Trustmark National actually comes back to an O. Martinez in Los Angeles, CA not Beverly Hills. Also, when the money is deducted from my account, it comes out under Lincoln Financial with a phone number that actually is registered to a Prod Sweetner in Los Angeles. When I confronted her over the phone, she would not tell me when the actual Fingerhut account was opened. She keeps using my maiden name, which means that this account would have been opened in the 1980s or very early 1990s, as I got married in 1993 and have used solely my husbands name every since. My name isn’t even hyphenated. I really think I am being scammed. I tried to look up this company through google search and nothing shows up for Trustmark National except for banks in Mississippi and Lincoln financial comes back to insurance, investment, and financial advisors I believe in Connecticut. The paper I am sending you is the only thing sent to me that was actually by fax. I have received nothing my mail. With all the searches that I have done, I cannot verify that this company exists.
