Type of a scam Online Purchase

I always try to be as informed as possible when it comes to making online purchases. However, this site states on the first page, "We do not have any subscriptions or recurring fees, so you have nothing to worry about when ordering!" What they don’t tell you is that they have a $79.97 hidden membership fee. So, here I am trying to buy 4 kitchen tongs at $1.99 each & my account gets charged $87.93!!!

When I called the number listed for customer service, I got a man with a very heavy accent who sounded like he was in a cave or tunnel. Static, loud banging & maybe his microphone or phone was rubbing against his mouth. So, between the language barrier & noise, the only thing I got out of the conversation was that there would be no refund.

I went back to the purchase website & found a section about how serious the company is about being accused of "friendly fraud" & how they will report any accuser to the "Credit Card Number Blacklist, which would prevent you from ordering from thousands of major websites worldwide and could impact your credit score rating." That sound very threatening & intimidating to prevent being reported.

I have to wait for the payment to complete processing in my account before my bank can take a fraud claim from me. Hoping I can recover everything!

Also, the bank informed me that the number they found is Australian, the number listed on website was Alabama, but the man I spoke to sounded Middle Eastern. So bizarre????
