Contacted by a telesales person calling from the number (207) 457-0209. The individual identified that they were calling from the firm Timeshare Release Now in Maine. The caller correctly identified that my elderly mother had owned two timeshare units and that she had fallen behind in her timeshare annual payments. The caller insisted that if we did not engage with their firm to have the timeshare contracts cancelled, upon my mother’s eventual passing any financial debts would become our financial obligations costing us thousands of dollars. When I explained that my mother had no real assets and that I would not be inheriting anything in such an event the caller insisted that I would still be responsible for her timeshare debts based upon timeshare contract law. When I said that was ridiculous he asked if I was a lawyer and when I said I was not he told me they were a legal firm and that it was true that I would inherit the debits of my mother if I didn’t retain them. I promptly hung up on the caller as this was obviously a falsehood to get my business.
